Before 1904 Banking done through barter or with Kennedy’s Store

1904 First Bank (Commercial Bank of Tasmania) opened in Franklin

1906 Tender for new purpose built building let James Add.

1915 Bank opened a receiving house (agency) at Huonville.

1921 Receiving House established at Castle Forbes Bay

1921 CBT absorbed into English Scottish and Australian Bank (ES&A)

1943 ES&A closed Franklin branch

1944 Converted to Bowmont Hospital by Dr O T Kyle

1947 Government took over the running of the Hospital

1965 New Huonville Hospital opened, Bowmont closed

1974 Occupied for part of the time by Government Sponsored tenants

1975 Renovated from state of near dereliction to become new Community Centre by volunteer labour and grant of $7600

1985 Grant of $52,309 to Huon Youth Support Scheme for further refurbishment
