Indigenous / Refugees and Migrants / Communities in Focus / Barriers to employment / STEPS Community Fund / International Support Community SolutionsAt STEPS Employment and Training Solutions we are committed to improving social equity in our community by alleviating the effects of poverty and disadvantage. Whilst all facets of our business are directed to this goal, the development of Community Solutions and consolidation of the STEPS Community Fund enable a further strategic and focussed approach towards our key goal. The team of Community Solutions concentrates on developing initiatives to assist disadvantaged groups, with particular emphasis on the needs of Tasmanian Aboriginal communities; newly arrived refugees and migrants; people with a disability; parents wanting to return to the workforce; and mature-age job seekers. We are also concerned with overcoming severe barriers to employment by seeking real long-term solutions using the full range of other STEPS resources – Employment Solutions, Training Solutions, Recruitment Solutions and Community Housing. Additionally, we seek out effective partnerships to enhance the achievement and outcomes of our projects; some of which are in the key areas of transport to work, driver training and licensing, and child care.
